The One Rule for Your Marketing

The One Rule for Your Marketing

Seriously this is a RULE, not a guideline.

You may have heard that consistency is key, and that advice isn’t wrong, especially when it comes to your marketing strategy! But how do you stay consistent in your marketing efforts? Posting consistently of course!

Posting informative articles to your website consistently is one of the best ways to build an audience, promote traffic, and gain trust with your clients. Our team at Charisma Communications shows you how.

Consistency is King

From posting to social media and blogging to responding to emails and client reviews, to make an impact, you must be consistent.

For example, to be more consistent you could strive to:

  • Post to social media 3-4 times a week
  • Post a new blog at least a few times a month
  • Reply to client reviews every Friday
  • Have stellar customer service and answer emails within 24 hours

Whatever you do, it is important to follow some kind of schedule so your audience knows what to expect. When your content is inconsistent in quality or quantity, it can be confusing.

Staying consistent creates a better customer experience and helps build credibility, reputation, and brand trust.

Consistency can also have a large impact on your bottom line and how your business ranks on Google and social media. In fact, one of our clients set a new record of $130K and counting from one blog article, now that’s great ROI!!

Learning from Your Audience

While posting a blog sporadically throughout the year might capture some attention from your audience, it will not help you develop meaningful relationships with them. To connect successfully with your target audience, you need to create content consistently.

Publishing articles or social posts regularly also allows you to learn from your clients. When you are part of the conversation, creating content becomes easier as you learn what your clients want and what questions need answering.

We recommend engaging with your audience on social media daily. Read their comments and answer their questions. Take note of what posts are the most well received and keep track of any shares or retweets. This will help you design a comprehensive marketing strategy because you will know what content is driving engagement.

For your blog articles, we recommended utilizing Google Analytics to monitor traffic and other performance indicators. You will want to pay close attention to your bounce rate, as well as track page views for each post to identify the topics that are resonating with your audience the most.

Make Content Creation a Habit

It can be difficult to keep up with the daily tasks of running your business let alone creating content on a daily or weekly basis. But it doesn’t have to make you stressed! This is where hiring a content marketing specialist like our team at Charisma Communications can be greatly beneficial.

Remember, creating content doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does need to have value for your audience.

We recommend brainstorming content ideas as well as a schedule that you would like to follow.

Consider the things that your audience is searching for. Are they looking for troubleshooting tips for their HVAC unit? Are they planning on designing a new kitchen and don’t know where to begin? Be an authority in your space and create content that answers these questions; but remember, to make the most impact, you must be consistent!

Repurposing Content

When creating content, make it easier on yourself and repurpose content. You aren’t here to reinvent the wheel after all!

Reusing content can help you reach a new audience and reinforce your brand’s message with minimal effort. Plus, recycling existing assets also gives you the chance to fine-tune your brand messaging.

There are many ways that you can repurpose your existing content into something new including:

  • Data from a report can be used to create an infographic
  • Interesting soundbites from a podcast or webinar can be edited down into 1-2 minute video clips that are perfect for social media
  • An evergreen “how to” article can be updated with new examples and reposted again with a new title
  • Blog posts can be compiled into an informative e-book

The value of this kind of repurposing and consistency extends beyond our modern marketing age. It harkens back to a rule from the Golden Age of advertising; the “rule of seven.”

This rule states that the average prospective client has to see something (like your business) seven times before they take action.

Consistent blog or social media posts elevate the rule of seven by keeping your brand fresh and relevant in the eyes of your potential leads.

A Consistent Marketing Strategy

As you can see, consistency is more than just a marketing buzzword. It is a promise to your audience that your brand is an authority in your field, and it is also a great way to establish a presence in an increasingly crowded online content space.
